KAREEMGRAPHY
KareemGraphy Kakkove, alias Abdul Kareem, is a self-taught artist and designer currently based in Doha. Originally from Calicut, he started exploring Arabic calligraphy during his early expatriate years in Medina. He has actively used calligraphy to spread socio-political themes on pressing contemporary issues and for the mere aesthetics of the art. His innumerable calligraphy works have been widely popular among social media users. Kareem is being formally trained in different styles of calligraphy by Usthads Wahab saif (Istanbul) and Waheedul Zaman (India). Kareem keeps conducting workshops in calligraphy in India and abroad. His works have been displayed in different prestigious exhibitions. The first art project KareemGraphy curated was a massive community art project on Love for Prophet Muhammad, which resulted in a popular exhibition at his home town Calicut in December 2019. Several local and international media have profiled Kareem – from The Gulf Times to The Qatar Peninsula to MediaOne TV – for his unique and original style.
